Professor Ljungqvist spoke at the 3rd session conference with the parties of the international convention against doping in sport at the UNESCO headquarters on monday. Professor Arne Ljungquist spoke on behalf of the IOC President Jacques Rogge and addressed the parties to implement activities in their respective countries on an even more intense level than as of today. This because despite the fact that almost all countries have ratified the convention and depsite the fact that the UNESCO Anti-Doping Convention is one of the most successful conventions in the UNESCO convention history (in terms of speed and number of signed governments), there is still fairly slow development of actions taken in the majority of the countries that have ratified the convention.

Professor Ljungqvist was also asked by the board to inform the conference parties about the upcoming seminar on "Doping as a public health issue" arranged by his recently established foundation – Professor Arne Ljungqvist Anti-Doping Foundation – and staged at the Karolinska Institutet, in Stockholm, Sweden, in September 21-22, 2012.

After the speech Professor Arne Ljungqvist was interviewed by representatives from the Associated Press.
